New York new legislation took effect today that allows midwives to work without a written practice agreement with a physician.

The Midwifery Modernization Act went into effect eliminating the longstanding rule that they obtain a written agreement with a physician allowing them to practice.

Vitamins and the "Niacin Flush"

Niacin (Vitamin B-3) is a water soluble vitamin that is essential to your body's well being.  In addition, it is a great way of reducing your cholesterol. Many over-the-counter cholesterol medications include high does of niacin, among other ingredients. However, one of the side effects of niacin is niacin flush.

Niacin works by causing small blood vessels to expand and thus allows the body to rid itself of harmful toxins in your body – which is a good thing. The niacin flush is redness and a sense of heat to your face, arms and back.  This can last for about 10 minutes.  This shows the Niacin is working.  The dosage will determine how much of a flush you get and how long it will last.

In summary, the Niacin Flush is a healthy reaction for your body. As the vessels widen, more blood reaches your cells and carry away the toxins.   Simple Google search on Niacin Flush will reveal a tremendous amount of information on the vitamin, it’s benefits and side effects.
