As I was socializing with friends this weekend, the Lemonade Diet (also known as The Master Cleanser) came up in discussion. A friend of mines lost twelve pounds and said that her acne cleared up completely. She said she felt more energy than ever before as she was on this diet. Meanwhile, another of my friend’s said that his aunt lost fifteen pounds, and her knee problems vanished as a result of the diet. The late Stanley Burroughs created The Master Cleanse Diet and it has been helping people to regain vivacity and shed pounds for seventy years. It’s no secret that celebrities have been using this diet to drop unwanted pounds quickly, as Beyonce famously lost twenty pounds for her role in Dreamgirls.

Eating disorders are no joke. They are very serious and can be taken to extremes. Eating disorders are seen when a person experiences severe changes and irregularities in their eating behavior such as extreme reduction of food intake, extreme overeating, concern about body weight and shape or feelings of extreme distress.

Eating disorders usually begin with merely eating smaller or larger amount of food than usual. However, at some point, the urge spirals out of control. These disorders are very complex and the behaviors and social undertones of these illnesses remains intangible despite all the scientific research that has gone on to understand them.

For those of you who love to dance and may secretly do it in the comfort of your home, but are too embarrassed to do it in public, you may want to rethink your reasoning.  Dancing is not only a great way to let loose and have fun, but it also provides numerous health benefits.   Social dancing is reported to help reduce stress, increase energy, improve strength, and increase muscle tone and coordination.

Whether you like to break it down with hip hop, enjoy the culture that come with classical, or doe see doe to country, many studies have shown that dancing lowers the risk of coronary heart disease, decreases blood pressure, helps manage weight, and strengthen the bones of your legs and hips.  It’s unique in the sense that you are able to reap the benefits of aerobic exercise while also being able to engage in social activity.  In addition, it was found that out of 11 physical activities, dance was the only one that was associated with lower risks of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.  This is because dance music engages the dancer’s mind. Not only does the physical aspect of dancing increase blood flow to the brain, but also the social aspect of the activity leads to less stress, depression and loneliness. Further, dancing can requires memorizing steps and working with a partner, both of which provide mental challenges that are crucial for brain health.

When a person decides to dance on a regular basis, they improve strength, increases flexibility, and reduces stress. Dancing helps people lose weight and develop self-confidence. Energetic dancing makes exercisers use muscles they may not have even known existed. It can even help people lower their blood pressure and improve their cholesterol level.
