Wonder Vitamins to the Rescue…

We all know vitamins are essential for good health and what we also know are that they are named after the letters of the alphabet… but, do we know how each vitamin helps the body and what are the best sources of these vital vitamins?  If not, don’t worry! Just slouch into your chair a little, get comfortable and see how investing 10 minutes of your time can result in a healthier you.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is also called Retinol. In its original form it can only be found in foods of animal origin. Vegetarians fear not, this vitamin can be derived from fruits and vegetables too. However, in fruits and veggies its present as a compound called carotene. The body breaks down this carotene to supplement it with vitamin A.

How it helps your body…
Vitamin A is essential for good eye sight.
It promotes healthy growth and development of the fetus.
Aids maintaining healthy skin
It enhances fertility and sperm mobility.
Helps fight infections.
Helps maintain structure and integrity of body cells.

Deficiency symptoms…
These are symptoms to watch out for if your deficient in vitamin A.
Faulty teeth, slow bone formation, night blindness, bumpy skin, increase susceptibility to colds and viral infections, sinus, urinary tract infections, rapid weight loss, loss of appetite.

Foods to eat…
Cheese, butter, milk, carrots, liver, eggs, apricots, spinach, sweet potato…

Vitamin B

Vitamin B has a huge family. You’ve probably heard of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, biotin, and pyridoxine. These are the fancy names for vitamins in the vitamin B family like vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7 and B9.

Want to Prevent Wrinkles ?????????

As we age, our skin loses moisture and elasticity, making it prone to wrinkles. Dermatologists have many medications and other ways for taking care of those little lines that mark the passage of time, and no one likes. But perhaps the best option is to protect your skin just as it is. I wanted to share with you various ways to prevent wrinkles from being formed in the first place.Ugly wrinkles

1.    Don't blame it on your genes- Of course some people age more elegantly than others. Your genes only govern 30% of how you age; the other 70% is up to you. The other 70% depends on how much your lifestyle choices can affect your genes. 2.    Protect your skin from sun - A study found that aged skin that hadn't been exposed to the sun had about 3,800 genetic mutations, while skin that had been exposed to the sun had around 10,000 mutations in the same genes! Mutations are the changes in your genes that control inflammation, the production and strength of collagen, and your skin's ability to retain water. As you age these genes start to behave in a way that encourages the formation of wrinkles. So if the risk of skin cancer isn't enough to get you to wear sun block and wide-brimmed hats, let this fact persuade you.
3.    Eat, drink and slather on the antioxidants- When UV rays are absorbed by your skin, they create free radicals, which are volatile molecules. Those free radicals can latch onto your DNA and cause the mutations that cause wrinkles. Antioxidants help your body defend against free radicals. Combat wrinkles by eating foods and drinking beverages that contain antioxidants (pomegranates, acai, blueberries, green tea) and using creams or moisturizers that contain them. 4.    Wear sunglasses regularly- Not only will wearing sunglasses protect the delicate skin around your eyes from the sun, but it'll also help prevent squinting, which directly contributes to wrinkling
5.    Sleep on your back to prevent sleep lines, which can eventually turn into wrinkles.
6.    Stop smoking- Heavy smokers are almost 5 times more likely to show excessive wrinkling than nonsmokers. Smoking can damage collagen, and the squinting and lip pursing that comes with smoking directly create wrinkles over time.
7.    Control your facial expressions- More animated expressions mean more creases, and creases eventually become wrinkles. It might be difficult, but try to do away with frowning, eyebrow raising, and squinting. Don't stop smiling or laughing, however. A genuine smile causes crow's feet around your eyes but the power of sincere joy against wrinkles may be stronger than the effects of not smiling.

Sometimes you know exactly what's causing that pounding in your skull. Other times, you're blindsided. Headaches—whether debilitating migraines or less-painful-but-still-annoying tension headaches—are often set off or made worse by a key trigger, says Brian Grosberg, MD, director of the Inpatient Headache Program at Montefiore Headache Center in New York City.

more sleep equates more drinking ?

A study has proven that college students who sleep longer, drink more, and study less. When classes are scheduled later in the day, students have more time to sleep in the morning. This encourages them to stay up later and drink. Researchers found that undergrads whose classes started later were more likely to binge drink and as a result get lower grades. Since the classes started later it has an effect on the choices the students make, and drinking more is one of them.
